Jim Grocholski, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer
Jim joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in August 2012. He brings to HealthSouth more than 20 years of senior management experience in healthcare including positions such as: vice president of human resources, chief operating officer and chief executive officer of both large and small hospitals. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California in Los Angeles and his master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Jim is a board certified healthcare executive holding the distinction of Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Jim brings boundless energy and a strong team spirit to Wesley with an emphasis on customer service and positive attitudes.
Kevin F. Brown, M.D.
Dr. Brown joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in April 2010 as medical director. He received his doctor of osteopathy from Des Moines University. He is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician with experience as a medical director in inpatient rehabilitation as well as home health, amputee and post-polio clinics. Dr. Brown was awarded the 2011 HealthSouth Medical Leadership award for the Western Region.
Kevin F. Brown, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Marilyn Burnell, SLP
Director of Therapy Operations
Marilyn has been the director of therapy operations at Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital since December 2010. She has an extensive background in treatment of cognition, communication and swallowing disorders. She also has worked for many years in therapy supervision at the facility and regional level. Marilyn has a background in teaching for communication disorders with a consortium of small colleges in Kansas.
Director of Plant Operations
Dale joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2010. He has worked in maintenance and plant operations for more than 23 years. Prior to working at HealthSouth, he has been employed by Via Christi, nursing homes, long term acute care hospitals, HCA Wesley, and consulted on new ventures into healthcare. Dale’s goal is to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients and staff so that they can be able to perform optimally. While striving for this goal, he is constantly seeking ways to conserve expenses and position the hospital to be ready to meet the needs of our community. Dale has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
Director of Marketing Operations
Brett joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2012. He has more than 15 years of medical supply and pharmaceutical marketing and sales background. His goal at HealthSouth is to promote the outstanding services the hospital provides to the Wichita community and surrounding rural Kansas counties. Brett earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas State University in 1996.
Bob has served as the chief financial officer since joining Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in November 2002. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Peck served in numerous leadership positions at Via Christi Medical Management from 1990-2002 and in particular as regional manager of operations from 1997-2002. An Ohio native, Peck earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida State University in 1986. His desire is to promote an environment that provides the highest quality of rehabilitation services by creating operational efficiencies through communication and improved systems.
Anita Reimer, RN, CCM
Director of Case Management
Anita joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2012. She has experience working in the home health field and spent 15 years in case management in the workers compensation arena. She also worked for Raytheon Aircraft focusing on family medical leave as well as short and long term disability and as an internal case manager for Preferred Health Systems. She is a graduate of Wesley School of Nursing, and has been a Certified Case Manager (CCM) since 1998. Anita is currently a member of the local chapter of CMACK.
Betty Shuman, PHR
Human Resources Director
Betty joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital in September 2007. She has almost 10 years of human resources experience in the areas of recruitment and retention, staff development, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, employment law and compliance and workplace safety. Betty’s goal is to ensure employee’s needs are met in a timely and effective manner as well as ensuring Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital recruits and retains top notch employees to meet the needs of our patients. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in human resource management. She also received her certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) in 2006.
Blake Veenis, M.D.
Associate Medical Director
Dr. Veenis has been associate medical director and medical director of the brain injury unit at Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital since July 1993. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburg in June 1993. He has special interests in neurorehabilitation and NCS/EMG. Dr. Veenis was awarded Wichita Business Journal Best Doctors for 2010.
Jessi Workman, RN BSN, MBA
Chief Nursing Officer
Jessi joined Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital as the chief nursing officer in May of 2013. She has over 10 years of critical care and emergency nursing experience. She is a graduate of Mary Grimes School of Nursing. Jessi earned her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and she has a master’s of business in healthcare administration from Western Governor’s University. She is a member of the Association of Nurse Executives and a Trauma Nursing Core Course instructor. Jessi uses her emergency background to ensure the nursing staff at WRH are well rounded and able to give our patients the best rehabilitation care available. Her goal is to provide each and every patient with exceptional nursing care while allowing them to focus on achieving their personal rehabilitation goals. She believes that our patients deserve the very best in excellent care and customer service.
